Happy Easter & Happy Holidays!

Here in Lebanon, we are celebrating this week the Catholic Easter, the Maronite and Catholic Church celebrate it the same (since the Maronites follow the Catholic Church).
The Orthodox Church celebrate it the next week, there’s always one week between the two celebrations, and every few years we celebrate together (pure coincidence).
They couldn’t unify it because there are lot of stubbornness and hidden schedules and interests. Will not start the rant now 🙂

I’m not intending to write a religious post, I just want to wish the people who are celebrating Easter this week a very Happy Easter and hope you will enjoy the holidays and the family gatherings!

I’m also celebrating Easter this week, for me the celebration is not as it used to be after many things have changed inside but of course it’s something I keep to myself, I enjoy my family presence, I respect them, their beliefs and all my friends beliefs as well, I enjoy my mother’s Kaak and Maamoul that she will prepare despite her arm’s pain which I bow in front of her devotion and sacrifice always.

My sweet colleague brings me every year her homemade Maamoul so I can taste before the holidays. Oh they seem so delicious. 😀
Maamoul fillings can include dates, walnuts, pistachio, I only eat dates, but I taste the others also no problem at all! The Kaak has no fillings and it’s my favorite beside the Maamoul dates. R.I.P Diet 😀

My best friends will be visiting on Saturday to spend the day and celebrate with us. So again we will tap eggs and have fun. Oh yes my Muslim friends 🙂 even though I so hate to call people by their religion but there’s a good reason I am mentioning this (my community knows what I’m talking about).
There’s a good reason because 90% of my extended family are fanatics and retarded! I wonder what’s the Christ’s opinion regarding this matter? Except, we know very well what’s his opinion! (Sorry I couldn’t help it) 🙂

I still enjoy coloring eggs even though it’s a mess especially when I want to draw on them! Not my strong point definitely 😀

The official Easter holiday in Lebanon is tomorrow the Good Friday and Monday as well.  I don’t work on Saturdays anyway gladly.
Our weekend here is: Saturday – Sunday. Some people work Saturday half-day and some don’t.

Therefore, I might be away and not active as usually but I will try to catch up for sure.

      3. I will watch, he was around again last night but I don’t think it was the same bear, looked smaller but he wouldn’t come out into the light to see him better. One of these times I’ll get a picture!🐻📷😁

      7. Yes, I shall definitely be careful. Still, I have been known to do some stupid things. I did go out on the deck last year to chase a bear away. He was small about 250lbs, big enough enough to kill me quite easily though! And I was only 2 feet away from that one.😲 I haven’t learned, did something stupid even today. Sigh.😂

  6. Happy Easter to you, your family and friends!! I am not religious (anymore), although my family is (my mother is a Lutheran Pastor!) So we take the kids to their grandparents house and do all the traditions that we did growing up for Easter (adults hide eggs in the yard, and the kids find them! Easter baskets full of books, candy and little toys, lots of “comfort meals”, etc.)…Easter has never been a big holiday for me, but it is for my family (the religious aspect of it being Christian). There is joy though in gathering together as a family and celebrating by just being together. That is what I look forward to these days (and seeing my kids get so excited about all the fun parts of holidays that I loved as a child.) Anyway, I hope yours is full of laughter, love and lots and lots of joy (maybe a couple extra sweets as well!)

      this is what I meant by the changes inside, I used to be, and the religious aspect used to mean everything to me.. but it vanished now

      yes I can understand with kids, you should really let them be and have fun as I do with my parents and relatives, I keep my beliefs to myself, no point from ruining people happiness after all you can’t change anyone or impose anything on anyone
      They need to want that change and feel it , it’s enough to remember how I used to be to not judge anyone…
      Happy Easter to you too and your small and extended family as well, yes the family gathering is priceless and this is what we should embrace the most because we never know when it’s not there anymore
      Wish you as well lot of joy, warmth and love and hope lot of sweets as well haha oh you must taste the maamoul 😁😁

      1. ❤❤❤❤ Don’t worry, we don’t hide religion from the kids…quite the opposite. I teach them about every religion I can. Someday, they can make the decisions for themselves on what they want to believe and worship. ❤❤❤ Until then, I’ll do my best to educate them on as much as I can and share the traditions that I grew up loving. 🤗🤗😘

  17. Advance Happy Easter Huguette. The Lenten season is quite celebrated here in my country since majority are Catholics.

    I am enjoying the holidays as well as participating in some religious events.
    It’s been so long since I last painted on an easter egg. Your post bring back good and fond memories. 🙂
