Borrow The Lyric Challenge

I was nominated by Nour to do the “Borrow the Lyric” Challenge. Something totally new.

Nour is a very talented blogger, she writes deeply and in a very original way. She’s a reader and respect other’s content which is great. Check her blog for more.

Rules (as copied from the creator):

  1. You need to choose a verse from a song and use it in an original poem or story.
  2. You must include the name of the song and the singer at the end or beginning.
  3. You need to challenge someone else and invent ONE rule they need to follow.
  4. You must credit the person who started this challenge (a.k.a. PJ) and the person who challenged you. 
  5. You must include the rules of this challenge.

Nour’s extra rule: you must “Borrow” the lyrics from a cartoon song! Oh wow! Now my life is better

After thinking and thinking, I have chosen a song from the Disney movie soundtrack:”Pinocchio”
“When You Wish Upon a Star – Cliff Edwards”.
And I was imagining if this spell can be real nowadays, how cute the people will look  😂

The song verse:
When you wish upon a star
Makes no difference who you are
Anything your heart desires
Will come to you
If your heart is in your dream
No request is too extreme

As dreamers do 

My part:
Don’t tell me about the things you can’t do 
Just tell me about what you’re capable to 

Only the sky is your limit 
Your life can change in a minute

Spread your wings and fly away
Smell the air and feel the sun ray

You were born free; you were born firm and sublime
Don’t live like a slave and don’t die before your time

Raise your head, look up and smile
This entire world is yours, each and every mile

You are the only obstacle in your way
Get up and wipe it all away

Live your life to the fullest and fulfill your dreams
If you die with regrets you will eternally scream!  

I will use the same extra rule as Nour since there are many beautiful cartoon movies songs 😊

  2. Congratulations Huguette!! Never heard of this one before and now I know you are a poet too, that’s great!! And thanks for the nomination! Do you realize how long it’s been since I have watched a cartoon movie??🤪😂 I mean, that would be about 12 years ago!😂 Sigh. This will be a challenge, that’s good though, I like something different.😃😺

      1. I can’t believe that I missed one!😲 I will check that out, of course I was on vacation for a while,🤪 if it was before that then it’s on my list, somewhere. My list is like my desk right now, a big mess!😂 I need to check back a bit. Might take a while to get this done, I’m behind a bit on awards again. I can be organized when I want, which is most of the time, though my desk doesn’t show it!!😂These days I just want to be outside as much as possible, which hurts the blogging so will have to work out a schedule of some kind I think.🤔Our summer is so short, it’s a shame to be indoors!😁Oh well. So far the day is good, looks like it might rain and its only 18C, too cool for this guy, especially after all the hot weather! And I have to go out in this rain. Sigh.😃🌧😁😹

Well, I have goals to meet by the end of the year, so I will need to post more to get there!😂 I won’t make my goal for number of posts though, I didn’t post enough the first half especially the first 2 months, I was slow!😁I don’t even want to think of winter, don’t know if I could handle another like last year!!🥶😂😂😜

I can understand you, but my advice, if you are seeking readers, 2 posts per day are more than enough, I still prefer one post per day, because for readers like me that want to read for all my readers, it’s unfair to read for 1 blogger 6 posts per day and ignore other bloggers, this is how I think after experience. The blind likers won’t care or those who comment “great post” ” congrats” won’t care as well 🙂 so it’s about quality not quantity and it has always been this way
        my opinion of course 😸
        let’s not think about winter and enjoy the sun and summer now 🌞😸

      7. Yes, you do have a point. About 90% of my readers either don’t comment at all or just leave one or 2 word comments. Only 10% actually say something more and even most of them it’s only one sentence. Here’s a question, honest answer, are my posts too long? I have wondered about that since most blogs I read the posts are very short.🤔🙂

        no honestly your posts are very good, not too short, not too long and full of pictures, not what I meant..but for me reading one post or 2 posts per day for one blogger is fair enough otherwise, I will not give it their proper right, this is what I mean 🙂 those likers or people that say any bullshit, they do so with everyone, it doesn’t matter the length believe me 😊

      9. Okay, I was reading some blogging tips recently here on WordPress which said there should be 4-6 posts per day but no more than 300 words. My posts are about 650 words, used to be much longer. I don’t think I could post that much, I like the idea of 2 per day Monday to Friday, maybe something short, just one per day on Sat and Sunday. Not sure yet if I will do that much or not, of course all these award posts help to add in that second post of the day!😃😁

      10. don’t know about these tips to be honest, 4-6 posts? check all the good blogs, they post 1 good post once per week or maximum twice and a good post as per some blogging articles should not be less than 1000 words! So there are many tips and each blogger should do what’s best for them for me, I made it clear that it’s being hectic reading 4-6 posts for one blogger and ignore the rest…
        It’s me, maybe other bloggers like that I don’t know
        for me, if you want to write a really good post, it’s not possible to post more than 1 post per day unless one of them is short or a quote or a song…etc….
        So you need to choose what’s best for you 🙂

      11. True enough. I figure one regular post and something else like an award post or a poem, something like that. I know a couple bloggers who post 8 to 12 posts a day and even if they are not long its still too much for me. Hmm, 1,000 words, that’s what mine used to be and people said it was too long. Perhaps it has to do with the topic too. Oh well, I will just keep going. Don’t worry about reading everything I post, not everything will be interesting to everyone anyway. Lots of smoke in the air from forest fires again, very strong really.🙂🌞

      12. I’m not saying so to say I will not read everything you post, just explaining how I see things and how many others do not only me, for an example 8-12 posts I unfollow immediately . For me personally it’s not blogging anymore
        Yes some posts you really reach the 1000 words without noticing
        I wrote 2000 and 3000 and many read them actually
        I guess one good post plus poem or award is very good
        These smokes and fires are really bad 🙄🙄

      13. Yes, I understand that, actually even if all my followers posted only once a day I couldn’t keep up with reading them, I read too slow I guess. Wow, I just got 20 likes in 2 seconds, now that’s fast reading.😂😁I hope those fires are not close but that smoke is strong, it was even worse overnight, it was hard to breathe.😬🤔😀

        I guess you just need to mention it the way I did in my post and it doesn’t matter where you will mention it, probably just before you write the song (part of it) and then add your part (poem or story)
        If you like the love topic for an example : beauty and the beast is a beautiful song 😊

  10. I used to sing that song as a child all the time. Such a wonderful memory! Love the words that you put together. You are a talented poet! And then I think, you are a bit brilliant too –since English isn’t your first language… Do you think in another language and then write in English or do you write in English from the beginning?

    1. Thank you dear and I feel humbled that you’re saying these words about me 😊 I’m not a poet! But I used to write in Arabic and didn’t like the idea of keeping the rhyme, I wanted to be free in writing…
      I think in English while writing in English especially when there’s a rhyme to maintain 🙂 I can’t think in Arabic it’s so different!
      So glad I brought back childhood memories and glad you loved it 😊😊 ❤

  12. Oh wow! That sounds challenging. I’ve written parodies for lyrics before (haven’t published them because of possible privacy breaching) but incorporating a verse into a poem? That sounds hard to me. You did great at adding your addition to that verse, Huguette! 😊💕

So glad you loved it and I’ll explain a bit: just choose a song from a cartoon movie, save the lyrics and take the first part, after that what the lyrics made you feel? what is the subject? love, inspiration, or other…you write a story about it or you write a poem (for an example from the lyrics I have I could have written a story about someone who followed their dreams and succeeded but I wrote a poem instead) hope it’s better now 🙂 and take your time of course ❤
